Hi, Kinan. I’m happy to inform you that as of the night I type this, I’ve finally read and completed Hirohiko Araki’s Manga in Theory and Practice. With the map of the golden path to the royal road of manga at my disposal, I now have a deeper and richer understanding of the making of manga and the crucial info as to the inner mechanics of it that Christopher Hart and his ilk completely overlooked. Chapter 5 was an especially perfect dispeller of the stereotypes! I do realize that it isn’t a manual but something to refer to if absolutely necessary to gain a firmer grasp of the project I would work on. This and others have helped me to finally get the core skills to learn from Japanese cartooning and storytelling the other imitators have been lacking.
NICE ^w^👍
Thanks for giving me the encouragement to seek out that book. I won’t forget it. But seriously, Christopher Hart’s books were very superficial and a waste of time…

As for Christopher Hart’s books, I’d have to disagree that they were superficial and a waste of time. Maybe superficial, but definitely not a waste of time. Heck, if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be were I am now drawing in my own style and characters.
